RESET Volunteer Hernandez Involves Parents in her Classroom Sessions

RESET Volunteer Sandra Hernandez invited parents of her students to assist in her classroom experiments for second graders and many did. Although it isn’t always possible to involve parents, RESET volunteers should give it a try by asking our teachers to help us reach out to our students’ parents,  Some feedback from Sandra’s parent volunteers:

Sandra-
We cannot thank you enough for all the time, effort, and care that you have put towards creating and implementing these special lessons for the kids! Then… a special field trip to top it all off!? SO AWESOME
It was a great series of lessons and experiments and it’s obvious the kids really loved them, but I think us parents had a great time with you as well! So thank you again and again! We are truly lucky to have you and appreciate all you have done to share your love and passion for science
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Sandra,
I echo Jennifer’s sentiments. Thank you so very much for all of the work that you put into making the RESET project such a big part of our students’ year. I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to take the time off from work to be able to help and am most appreciative to all the parents who were able to join you in bringing the project to the students. We are truly fortunate to be part of such a great community that is interested and invested in our children’s future. Thank you

I’d like to include my thanks for this experience. My Eva continues to talk about it. Thank you to all the parents who helped make this possible for our children.

Hello Parents,
Our RESET adventure has come to an end. In its trajectory our students explored and got an inside look at Magnetic, Electrical, Chemical and Mechanical Forces that are used in every-day life. The finally of our program ended with a fun and educationally filled field trip to the Anacostia River. I hope your student’s enjoyed it as much as I did. Once again, THANK YOU to all the parent volunteers that helped facilitate a smooth delivery of each lesson throughout the school year (Mr. Ross, Ms. Cowser, Ms. Schroeder, Ms. Shaw, Ms. Larry, Mr. Jones, & Mr. Hangarter). And of course, THANK YOU Ms. McCone for working me into your busy curriculum!

On the link below has some pictures and videos of the groups I chaperoned. More picture were posted to the SLES PTA Facebook page by other chaperons.

Best,
Sandra Hernández-Hangarter
